Kathleen Bowman

Kathleen Bowman, Artist's Statement
I was born and bred in Saskatchewan and now I divide my time between East Sooke in Canada and East Sardinia in Italy where I have lived most of my adult life. I draw inspiration from the Mediterranean and West Coast landscapes for my mixed media work. I use small semi-precious stones, shells, sea glass and natural fibre material such as the dried skeleton of the prickly pear cactus, maple seeds and other small reminders of the beauty that surrounds us. These are embedded in a synthetic base; colour and texture are applied with acrylics and sand.
I also enjoy beading, both with glass and ceramic beads and often use my own hand made ceramic beads.
